Last Saturday, Ljubljana hosted the fourth Day of Electronics a well renowned event, inspired by the ultimate goal, which is to finally put electronic music aside popular and orchestral genres. Musical and visual therapy 1605 served us some highlights, including the new horde of humanoid freaks, derived from the Subtotal design studio, which dominated the top floor of the front atrium.
In the main theatre the fierce dancefloor battle was fought by Spektre, which presented us with their live act and smokin' »balkamaniac« Sebastien Leger. First peak of the night was scored by swedish techno-master Christian Smith. He surprised his loyal audience and his old friend DJ Umek with a birthday gift – remix of Umek's classic Lanicor and a set, which proves why he's known as one of the hottest DJs on the planet. Traditionally the Day of Electronics was ended by the host – DJ Umek, who finished his performance a few minutes before midnight with the remake of Vivaldi's Four Seasons. The track is a result of a collaboration with Simphonical Orchestra of Slovenian National Radio and Television (RTV). Does this suggest a birth of a new alliance on Slovenian musical scene? The fact is yet to be seen, but nevertheless the RTV Simphonical Orchestra added their piece of mosaic to the Day of Electronics and moved electronic dance culture a little closer to the general music public.
